About Buoy18

Buoy 18 is a state of mind and a channel mark on Duxbury Bay.

Buoy 18 is the first buoy I would pass when leaving my mooring and heading out on the water.  Buoy 18 is the start of an adventure full of possibility and excitement for things like fishing, swimming, or going to a distant port.  Buoy 18 also marked coming home at the end of the trip, changed by whatever experience just occurred like hauling in a huge tuna or striper in stormy seas, a trip to Provincetown or Nantucket, or a simple blue-sky sunny day picnic and swim with family and friends.

Coffee was always an important part of a morning fishing trip.  A cup filled with hot coffee, meeting friends at the beach and rowing the dinghy to the mooring, carefully balancing our coffees along with fishing rods and gear.  Blasting from the mooring in the early morning light with a hot coffee, good friends and not a care in the world except to enjoy the moment.

A love of coffee led me to meet the Colombian farmers and sample their products. I love anything from volcanic soil - think a bold red wine from Sicily’s Mt Aetna - due to its unique mineral content and bold and exciting flavor. The coffee you will enjoy primarily comes from the high mountains in the volcanic region of Colombia and is unique in flavor and by the families who care for and harvest the coffee beans.

A love of the ocean and coffee is combined with Buoy 18 and infused in every bean we roast. You will enjoy a premium cup of coffee to start off your next adventure.
